DECA / The Thirsty Herd
DECA at Elkin High School
At Elkin High School, DECA is more than just a club—it's a launching pad for future business leaders. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management through real-world experiences, competitions, and leadership opportunities. Our students gain hands-on experience in areas like business strategy, public speaking, and project management. With a national theme of "This is how we do DECA," we encourage every student to embrace innovation, challenge themselves, and work together toward success. Whether participating in regional competitions or helping with school-wide events, DECA members are constantly pushing their limits and honing their skills.

The Thirsty Herd: School Store
Run entirely by DECA members, The Thirsty Herd is our school store, where students get hands-on experience managing a real business. From inventory management and marketing to customer service, students apply what they learn in the classroom in a professional setting. The Thirsty Herd offers snacks, drinks, school spirit gear, and more, all while teaching students the essentials of running a small business. Profits from the store help fund DECA events, competitions, and community projects, making it a hub for both school spirit and entrepreneurial growth.
