Hello!  Welcome to my home page.  My name is Tonya Smith and I teach Vocal Music and General Music here at both Elkin High School and Elkin Middle School. I have a BA in piano performance from Elon University and a teaching certification from Catawba College.  This is my 21st year teaching in the public education system and I love it!

I am married 28 years to Michael Smith who is a self-employed real estate appraiser and real estate consultant and we have one son Noah who is currently a junior at Western Carolina University.  Both my husband, son and I are proud graduates of Elkin High School. Outside of teaching music, I enjoy hiking, fly-fishing, jogging, reading and traveling, especially to the mountains.  I love nature and nature photography and find the connection between nature and music to be poetic.
